Significant development began on the Coast in the wake of World War II, which had brought many servicemen to the sandy beaches. By the end of 1940s, Broadbeach had just five recorded residents. The area of Broadbeach was vacant land until 1955, when development of the area was led by the construction of Lennon’s Broadbeach Hotel. Built on a site which had been mined for mineral sand, the Lennon’s Broadbeach Hotel was often promoted as an oasis in the desert. In 1987, Lennon’s Broadbeach Hotel was demolished and two years later, The Oasis opened along with the iconic monorail on 29 August 1989.
The Oasis Monorail connected the beach, shopping, SOFITEL Gold Coast resort and Jupiter’s Hotel & Casino. It had two stations on level 2 of The Oasis and a station at Jupiter’s Hotel & Casino. Originally known as the Gol’Coasta, the monorail opened to passengers in 1989. In 2001 the operator acquired the majority of the track and the trains originally used at the Merry Hill Shopping Centre in England. In late 2013 the monorail closed for maintenance reopening to passengers on 18 December 2014 and later closed on 29 January 2017.

The Oasis boasts over 1000 car parks available 7 days and nights with access to all shopping and commercial levels. We offer 3 hours Free undercover car parking for all customers. Disabled parking is also available on all levels. Access to our car parks is via Victoria Avenue or Charles Avenue.
